WHEN I MISS HOME

I play this video and think of all the good times.
... walking from Houston to the Bowery Ballroom for a show... taking the train to Happy Endings with friends.... literally skipping across busy streets in chinatown. Karan O gets MY New York and she summed it up into one amazing video. I heart her for this!!!

PB&J EVERY DAY THIS WEEK

I will be listening to the boy's latest release all day everyday this week while it is streaming on Spinner.

My apologizes to the 4th floor because this album rocks! i haven't wanted to listen to an album noon stop like this since last week when the Decemberists came out!

Vogue - April - Shape/Bey-Tex Issue

So posting about Vogue's April issue doesn't help in my case against being a Bey-Tex Stan blog. I didn't even want to buy it but after flipping threw saw the issue actually has some really good interviews!
Zoe Kravitz X Olivia Thirlby
It was cute that Vogue tried to find some younger lesser known starlets to feature i their April issue. Zoe is a know fashion elitist (but in a good way) but i had know i Olivia could hold her own with the Vogue writer. Having only recently seen her in the Wackness i was impressed. Good read for us lil women.

Charlotte Gainsbourg X Lou Doillon
If you weren't already obsessed to the point of shame with these sisters, this wont help. The writer did a great job of not only getting the two elusive sisters to talk about their style and insecurities (it's the English half that makes the feel that way) she always makes you with all ur might you could be in Paris in that cafe while the miracle happened!

NOT A BEY-TEX STAN BLOG

i repeat we at Pretty Cheeky do not stan over Bey, BUT this video had me in tears, sending emails to people at my job i don't even like just so i could have an excuse to watch it over and over. NFW, but maybe with headphones or on 2.

Shiny, Silver and New

I have been in LA almost two years now and have decided the time has come for me to move!! In my quest to get the FREAK out the valley, i have started looking where everyone else is looking los feliz/silverlake. Wish me luck. To help me out while researching and driving around looking for places i have been getting inspired by this really good Silverlake band: Local Natives!

Airplanes - Local Natives
i have been out of it.... but fear not my faithful blog followers.... ya girl is about to get her ass up and blog!

I Don't torture Men, I torture boy's ....

So, when you stop dating someone you actually cared about, it's tough. It's especially tough when you build some sort of expectations (yes, Solis- I know this should never be done) but it happens and you build things up so high sometimes that all that can happen is failure. But how you handle that failure, the grace you carry yourself with after, really identifies the type of person you are ... and let's face it, it also settles the age old question of who wins.

Yes, as in who wins the competition of 'being better off'.

At the end of a cycle of "dating or relationship" I have always found that the younger one's are always in a race, a race to one up their former partners as if to say see who win's the upper hand. I have never been one to partake in this but in this most recent situation, I really just couldn't help the fact that all the pieces were falling into place without me even trying. So by nature, I just went along with ... Who comes out better? Nobody really, because it's immature. But all in all, the feeling of victory is there and well, you can't help but have a little joy in your gut about it.

Long Story Short: I successfully went to an X's bday party by myself feeling and looking good, being polite to him and his friends, flirting with others (which ended up being one of his co workers. Oops!) and made it a point not to be that awkward X at the party. By doing all of these thing's I was able to naturally win the "better off battle" by making him loose just a little pride went he realized I was the best thing he will never have. Booyakashaw!

First test by nature is: Who didn't end up crazy.

point goes to: Kamelia

*I was sane, not jealous and very openly friendly. The X on the other hand threw a shit fit and told a mutual friend how disappointed he was I was talking to other guys ... especially when one ended up being his co worker. Eeek!

*note to reader, be very careful: Fatal Attraction was surely based off of someones crazy x girlfriend. Just hope your not the one which end's up curled up in fetal position while clinging to your x's Sunday game day tshirt which hasn't been washed in weeks.

Test two: Who is better of professionally

point goes to: Kamelia

*X's bday party also ended up being a pink slip party ... as he got laid off earlier in the day. ouch.

Test three: Who is in a better place, romantically.

point goes: Toss Up

*Although it is known to the X that Kamelia was dating someone for the past two months (no longer dating, story to come soon), The X was surrounded by a ton of hot girls. It was his bday ... you swear the hoochie bang bangs weren't going to be making appearances.

and finally Test four: who ended up with no regrets.

point goes to: Kamelia

*After one too many, X ended up confessing to another acquaintance he missed his chance with lil ol' Kami and regretted f'ing up the situation. That is solid gold defeat right there ladies and gent's! take note!

Well, let me just say that all though I didn't exactly plan it to happen, I def got the upper hand this weekend and won the battle.

Final Winner: Kamelia!

Quick Story

How to be safe on the subway:

While riding the subway in NYC, one should always take a seat and when one is not available, you should carefully stand in front of a pole and hold on for dear life, in case the subway hits any sudden stops.

**Please always ensure the person standing next to you or behind you isn't more than twice your size though ... if so, they might loose there balance and end up falling on you therefore causing you to hit your head on the metal pole which was there for your safety. FUN.

A Flintstones size bump on head, dizziness, blurred vision and 1 day of being in the ER later, Doctors prognosis: Concussion.

So now I lay in bed, completely out of it writing a safety message.

Have a Good Weekend Everyone.
