Dope Masking Tape Street Art

There are many uses for masking tape. You can fix torn paper, fix your broken glasses, to mask things, I use my masking tape to tape my sister to the wall. Buff Dis uses his making tape to make some pretty dope street art using only a couple of rolls. Check out some of these fancy creations.

That short hair cut gives her such a fierce fashion forward look, I actually really love it.  Look forward to seeing more of these images pop up online.

"How to Sell a Banksy" Official Movie Trailer

Street art has been a widely debated topic, is it art or is it destruction of property? Which then raises the question of someone taking the street art, Is it gold mine or is it a bunch of trash? Film makers Apler Cagatay & Christopher Thompson take a stab at trying to sell Banksy art. Artist Banksy who's street art is reportedly already being traded for millions. Banksy's film "exit through the gift shop" was just nominated for an Oscar for best documentary and it makes you wonder if this would only raise the price of his art? One think this movie will do is raise questions as to ownership of the art, the authenticity of art and the true value of an art piece itself.

SAG Fashion Highlights

Mila Kunis- In Alexander McQueen is absolutely stunning. Love it. No other words to be said.

January Jones- in Carolina Herrera, this is tricky because she usually throws me through a loop hole but I have to say- I think I love it. This gold and black lace number really is gorgeous and classic. Thumbs up my darling and kudos to your stylist.

Hailee Steinfeld- On anybody else, I would hate this Prada dress but it is just so fun and so meant for someone who is 14 years old. I think this is an EXCELLENT age appropriate gown, her stylist really did a great job.

Sofia Vergarra- Va Va VOOM!! This girl, I swear. Lol. Sex in a blue dress baby. Wearing Roberto Cavalli she is fitting right into her angle, as I would if I had that banging body.

Jennifer Lawrence- Wearing Oscar De La Renta, Jennifer Lawrence has landed on the red carpet hot list in this beautiful pink number with a touch of black. It is very classic design with the perfect accessories. I approve.

Angie Harmon- This pink swan princess Monique Lhuillier dress is actually pretty awesome and a show stopper (in my opinion). I do have to say though, it reminds me of a pink fluffy dress SJP wore a couple years back on a major red carpet. Hmmm ... Angie Harmon is back on the radar for me, can't wait to see what she wears on the next red carpet.

Julia Stiles- It has been a very long time since I have taken notice of anything Julia Stiles has worn but this Ombre White to Navy gown is fabulous. Not only is it a wonderful dress but the styling of her hair, make up and jewelry was absolutely on key. One of my best dresses of the night, by far just wish I could find out who designed it- the information is NO WHERE to be found online. Hmmm- results to hopefully follow soon ....

Dress is Monique Lhuillier, that is a very nice surprise.

Thundercats Reboot

I've been on a bit of a nerdy bender, I know this, don't judge me. don't act like this doesn't spark your interest. Stolen from it's maximum security dungeon are some photos of the new Thundercats reboot. The seem a bit more anime but they don't scare me off to the new series just yet. Seems pretty dope and slightly edgier than the OG version of the show even thought the OG Lion O was older and buffer. Seems like a teenager deal going on in this series.

Tippin' My 40' To The Cobra Commander

Say it isn't so!

Last Wednesday marked the end of an era and the date of death for a G.I. Joe mythology legend IDW's G.I. Joe: Cobra miniseries where they Kill the Cobra Commander. Great job guys, Let's just kill off everyone's arch enemies and make way for every Tom, Dick, & Harry to try to take out the hero. Some might come out cool new villains, I'll get to work on sandwich man and the thong crusader.
This can be debated both ways; Yes, it's good to make way for new stories& characters, to keep things from going stale but some would argue that you can't kill an icon.

In Christos Gage and Mike Costa's G.I. Joe: Cobra II #12, Cobra Commander was assassinated by undercover agent chuckles when he infiltrated the Cobra inner circle and then put a hot one in the Commanders dome; thus ending the reign of the Cobra Commander.
Here's Chuckles, kind of looks like the Zach Morris of the G.I. Joe team don't you think?

Check out the interview with ISW Senior Editor Andy Schmidt about the demise of the Cobra Commander.

"How did the decision to kill Cobra Commander come about?

We were working on the original Cobra miniseries that started in March 2008, and we were getting really great reviews, so we started thinking about doing more with this storyline. I started talking with series writers Christos Gage and Mike Costa about doing more with the characters. We thought about doing a trilogy, and they kicked this idea my way. We spoke with Hasbro and we thought could we get some great stories out of this.

Given Hasbro's involvement, are we going to see any toys spinning out of the Cobraseries?

People are excited that we have a big plan spinning out of G.I. Joe, so it looks more and more hopeful that we could see some toys spinning out of this, but nothing is set in stone.

Where does Cobra Commander's assassination leave Cobra at this point?3

Cobra's an organized group. His death certainly sends shocks through the organization, but it doesn't cripple them. It's definitely a blow, but Cobra is set up in such a way that if one person falls, the whole organization won't collapse. It creates a power vacuum — all of a sudden, there are different Cobra members making moves. As for G.I. Joe, it's like they poked the sleeping bear. At this point, Cobra can no longer ignore Joe — they've hurt Cobra in a way no other organization has. G.I. Joe is like, "Hooray! We won!" but they'll soon see how big Cobra actually is.

And what's Chuckles' situation now that he's assassinated Cobra Commander?

In the last issue of Cobra II, you'll see he has some unresolved issues with Tomax and Xamot, but where he goes from there we're keeping a mystery.

For the immediate fallout of Cobra Commander's assassination, check out the final issue of G.I. Joe: Cobra II, which is on the stands February 23, 2011. "

TMNT- Fight The Foot: Fan Video

Heck yeah! Nothing like a fan TMNT video to boost the day. I don't know how I feel about the April O'niel that they are using but there is room for adjustments like Raphael's face for one. Shoot even if they did make this one I'd still go watch it; Bandanna and plastic nunchucks in hand.

"April O'Neil reported on a new gang in the streets. Then it got personal. Only those below the streets can help her now."

Kudos to the maker of this. Enjoy

Coachella Lineup: Real and Official

Its the biggest music festival in California and every year we (ok maybe just I) wait on pins and needles for the line up to be announced. Rumors hit the mill about this time every year with all the possibilities of the lineup. But late last night @Coachella tweeted out this tour flyer with a the official lineup. This is a pretty starpacked list with artist that all have either recently releases work or are set to be doing middle of this year. In the case of the Strokes, it is there first release in over 4 years.

I do as always have some expressed thoughts on the line up however....

LINEUP BREAKDOWN

  • Kanye West AND the Strokes?? I don't know if you missed this episode but Kanye shares a stage with no one. So the listing that looks like a both equally good night of Kanye and the strokes throws me alil.
  • And even further below those two but on the same night is Duran Duran... yea.
  • She Wants Revenge and Ozomatli are STILL on the lineup. If that doesn't look like some names left on from last year's line up sheet, i don't know what does! Ok Ozo i will give some creidt, they did put a record out early last year, but SWR does NOT get a pass.
  • Ms. Lauryn Hill while backish in the lime light and still doing small club dates, i'm not 100% convinced the good people at Coachella would bet a prime time spot on her performing or being good.

Just so you know, the Coachella website is totally revamped from yesterday. Yesterday all they had up was a freaky dance video and the option to share and follow the site across every social media platform, oh and you can layaway the tickets. That doesn't give much hope to my dream that last year's "3 days or non at all" ticket was just a cruel joke. However now if you go back, everything you want to know is up, except for an update on the pass situation.

Who is planning on going? Would you like to see the pretty cheeky crew make a special appearance?

Collie Buddz: Holiday & Playback + The EP

I came across this EP by Collie Buddz today and besides being tripped out at the white looking reggae artist at first glance (what?! don't tell me you weren't traumatized when you saw what UB40 looked like, you know you pictured dreadlocked Jamaicans) anywho, Collie dropped his EP "playback" for everyone to enjoy yesterday. It's pretty dope, I think you'll like it, it's a fun album. I popped a video for you and links to 2 tracks. If you like what you hear then hit his website for the whole EP for free.

"Collie Buddz announces January 18th 2011 as the release date for his highly anticipated EP - “Playback.” The single and music video, "Holiday" sets the tone for the first official Collie Buddz release since his critically acclaimed self-titled debut which hit the top 100 on the Billboard charts in 2007. The new single has received support from tastemaker DJs like Hot 97's DJ Enuff (New York City), Sirius/XM's DJ Whoo Kidd, ZIP 103's ZJ Elektra (Jamaica) and online urban mega-portals Thisis50.com and WorldStarHipHop.com among other sites within days of it's release. To reciprocate the years of overwhelming support, Buddz has decided to make the entire EP available for free on his website, www.CollieBuddz.com."

Fashion FAIL

With Red Carpet in full swing- I can barely keep up with all the Fashion coverage, so here is my first post on everything that went oh so wrong last night.....

I don't know why but I am always so confused to why people decide to wear ugly clothes. Is it the attention?? Do they not have friends?? Are they color blind?? Should we blame their stylist?? Or is it the lame excuse that they really just have bad taste??

Confused?? Let's see exactly what I am talking about ....

Pale Pink DISASTERS: all though pink was an excellent color choice for last night, the way they were used here is a freaking disaster.

Sandra & Scarlett: With Sandra wearing Jenny Packham (who??) and Scarlett wearing Elie Sab these incredibly similar looking dresses wen't all wrong. The over beading on the gowns followed by those 3/4 sleeves made these gowns look old and more similar to something a grandmother would wear. DON't even get me started on those bangs Sandra is wearing- too over powering and just not cute at all.

Natalie: This HORRIBLY rose adorned Victor & Rolf Gown was a nice idea that went bad. The shinny satin undertone and that incredibly ridiculous large rose didn't make it better. She simply just looked like one of the MTV Teen Mom's getting dressed for Prom. -3 points on the cool scale Ms.Portman.

Tilda Sweeten: Oh dear oh my- WHY?????? So I know that she is a bit Avant Guard with her look and very minimalistic but this is a bit much. The Colored shirt and skirt was extremely large and her make up was so natural that she pretty much just melted in with her outfit. It's as if Casper was walking down the red carpet.

Halle Berry: Ok, first let me start by saying that I think she is an incredibly beautiful sexy women. Although she can pretty much wear anything and make it look fabulous- this is just inappropriate. Underwear on the red carpet should be left to those under the age of 30 with no kids. One can always be sexy- but satin corset and sheer black fabric should be left for the bedroom. Shame on you Nina Ricci for letting her wear that out in public.

Michelle Williams: This is what happens when you let your children pick your clothes. With cartoon like flowers, I am guessing this is the only reason why Valentino would even send this gown to Michelle- because they knew her daughter would love it. Unfortunately she is the only person that feel's that way.
High Fashion Attempts gone WRONG.

January Jones: Seriously, how did Versace put her in this?? better question is why in the heck would they even make this. First of all her breast are entirely to large for this type of top and the fringe on the bottom isn't really great or even cute for that matter. This just isn't a great look for her  all together- she could have done so much better.

Juliane Moore: Lanvin is normally exquisite but this ill fitting, non tailored number just makes me want to cry. She looks square- the inner sleeve added on the puff sleeve is not cute and it is just to overwhelming. Had major potential but it completely just missed the dismount.

And Finally .... When Prints attack.

Helena Boem Carter: Ok I get it, your funky and we should always expect this from you but could you a tleast wear matching shoes??? I am not sure that this is the idea that Vivien Westwood had when she sent the dress over for a golden globe red carpet nominee.

Heidi Klum: My problem with this dress is that it is entirely to casual. She looks like she is going for a day at the beach, rather than attending the golden globes. This has to be designed by the most recent project runway winner MARC JACOBS (whaaaatt???) or else I would see no reason for her to be wearing this ....

Conan O’Brien’s Flaming C Gets Action Figurized

Late night TV; if it's one thing you think of is an oven mitt and fishnet stalkings right? maybe not but it sure is on Conan's mind. From the interesting mind of Conan and from the pen of Bruce Tim with some help form Warner Brothers is the new action figure for "The Flaming C".

Last month Conan and B. Tim put together a clip showing (below) how "the Flaming C" came to be, last week Warner Bros. dropped a clip in Justice league fashion and just before the weekend they released this little gem. A "Flaming C" action figure, check out the photos and let me know what you think. Don't grab your keys ready to hit the local toy store just yet; this is only a first model that has been sent to the Conan show for approval. Maybe the other late night guys should get together and make their own super heroes. Would Leno be a villain to the flaming C?

Uncle Karl Shoots Barbie...

First the Creepy Short Film appears and now this ....

Although I am not exactly sure what these pictures are for, this Karl Lagerfeld photo shoot has popped up on the web. Using his favorite male model, Baptiste Giabiconi- these images are modeled with America's favorite doll Barbie. It's an interesting concept and although I am not exactly sure how I feel about it. In a way it's kinda genius but then I think about it and it could really just be creepy.

What do you guys think?? Fabulous or Creepy???

First Look : Captain America's Costume

Check out Chris Evans is his spiffy Captain America outfit. It really does look like a tricked out airman's jumpsuit, I guess it's what they plan to do with it that will make the difference. Even batman had different suits like Iron man and Spiderman. Captain America's helmet does have little wings on the side of the head as a throwback to the OG Captain America.
Nerd alert: If they really want to cause a bit of rumble they'll have Captain America punch out Hitler. Captain America: The First Avenger is set to drop this summer.

Thoughts on the suit? Pass? Fail? Good? Bad?

Ice Cube interviewed by Conan

Check out Ice Cube being interviewed by Conan the other night. They have a chat about the new "Are we there yet" series on TBS which is nominated for 4 NCAACP awards : "outstanding comedy, Best actor, actress, and best supporting actor. Some chit chat about Ice cubes son's rapping, and Conan also whips out the old Taft High school Yearbook (Go Toreadors!!) to show off cubes jheri curl.

First Look: The New Spiderman

There is no short of comic book movies for 2011. 2012 might have the same turnout with a slew of super hero flicks. With that said 2012 will bring a brand new Spiderman who will be played by Andrew Garfield which is set to drop July 3, 2012.

For those of you who want to pick the picture apart here it is in Hi Res. If you look closely you can see what appears to be web shooters on his wrist. Another noticeable difference is the new Spiderman logo. Not to mention that in this photo Spiderman appears to be going for the more leaner look than Toby Maguires Spiderman.

What do you think? Better? Worse? Pass? Fail?

Disney’s Mad Hatter Project : Alice By Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda

Quite some time ago I did a post about Glorious Excess (Dies) which was an art exhibit presented by Mike Shinoda. Well It's been confirmed that Mike Shinoda is 1 of 4 artist to participate in "The Mad Hatter Project" Check out this Vinyl figure that is a spin off from the "Oyakodon" painting. This definitely one for the vinyl collectors collection. Where and when to get this..um?.. good question, ask Mike Shinoda.

From Mindstlye:
"Take four of today’s most talented artists and visualizers, one of the all-time great Disney classics “Alice In Wonderland” celebrating its 60th anniversary next year, and inspiration from directors Tim Burton’s blockbuster film version… MINDstyle is proud to present a first look at Disney’s Mad Hatter Project. Alice by Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda combines his interpretation and vision based on the classic, blended with an edge of Burton and fused with his own original painting. Sculpted by Dave Cortes from Inu Art Studio, the highly detailed Alice and Rabbit presents a world of imagination. Plans are in the works for the launch in 2011 in celebration of the classic animation anniversary!"

Check out the art piece and the vinyl collectible, can you guess the difference in them?
